In February 2017, Funk 'n Waffles owner Adam Gold announced the brand's third location would open at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester this spring.

The 10,000-sq.-ft. space is a much bigger location than any venue Gold has previously operated. Its main room has a 1,000-person capacity.

The Rochester move comes full circle for Gold, who has performed there often with his band, Sophistafunk. He and his original business partner, Kyle Corea, even sold waffles at Water Street Music Hall at Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad shows.

"My band had a lot of success in Rochester, sometimes having larger turnouts at those shows than in Syracuse," said Gold, in February. "Rochester has always been on my radar as a place to grow if Funk 'n Waffles ever expanded out of Syracuse. It's a totally natural progression."

The venue will serve the same funky menu of specialty waffles as the first and second locations in Syracuse.
