Darwin is a fabulously diverse and edgy band that proudly defies being shoe-horned into any one genre. Out of Geneva, this talented group has garnered a strong following throughout the north Seneca Lake area.

Darwin was formed in 2011 by Laura Black (Vox) and Zach Schoonover (Bass). They began creating original music with electronic beats in Garageband. Laura and Zach needed a drummer to perform live, so enlisted long-time friend Adam Fryer (Drums) to play and the spacey, genre defying trio was born! Other member were added and subtracted over the years but most recently in the fall of 2016 Justin Turner (Guitar) and Aaron Holland (Keys) stuck, and added a full sonic range to the arsenal of original music! All members have been friends and playing music in different projects together since high school and throughout college. Our music is influenced by many different genres such as funk, metal, soul, jam, jazz, rock and rap. Our sound is unique, refreshing and tight. Darwin puts on an energetic show that keeps the audience dancing, singing along and jumping to the beat! Darwin most recently opened for Rochester band Thunder Body and has been steadily gigging locally since it’s inception. Darwin has also toured to vermont, played festivals such as Sterling Stage and Grassroots Festival (Trumansburg), and is looking to take their music to the next level!
Darwin is looking forward to independently recording a full length album by the end of 2017. On top of that, we hope to tour our refreshing upstate sound across the east and west coasts!
